2. How can I register on Smartmatrimony.co.uk?
Registration is easy and free. Simply complete the registration form found on the Homepage.
3. What are the benefits of registering with Smartmatrimony.co.uk?
Registration will allow you to create your profile, complete your personality questionnaire, explore your matches and search across other users on the Website. Your search begins here!
4. How much does it cost to register on Smartmatrimony.co.uk?
Registration is free!
5. What are the benefits of upgrading to Silver or Gold membership?
Upgrading to Silver or Gold membership allows you to fully experience all that Smart Matrimony has to offer. As a Silver member you benefit from unlimited communication with other users. As a Gold member you get the added benefit of an assigned matchmaker who will work with you on an individual basis. They will learn more about you, understand who you are and do everything they can to help you find the perfect match.
6. If I don’t have a Silver or Gold membership can I still message other users?
Only Silver or Gold members can exchange messages with other users.
7. If I don’t have a Silver or Gold membership can I still register and attend events?
Yes. Our events are open to all registered users.
Account
1. How do I choose a Display Name and what is the importance of this?
You will be asked to choose a Display Name when you register. This is important because, for all intents and purposes, it is your name on Smart Matrimony. This is the name all other users will see on your profile. So choose wisely!
2. I am told my email address is already in use. What does that mean?
It means that you have already registered and have likely forgotten your password.
3. I can't remember my password.
You can reset your password by following the 'Forgot your password?' link from the Login page. Alternatively you can follow this link: https://www.smartmatrimony.co.uk/Account/ForgotPassword
4. I haven't received my sign up email in the email account I registered with.
If the registration email has not been received after a reasonable amount of time, and you are sure you have registered, then please request another Activation Email, You can request this by following the 'Forgot your password?' link on the Login page. 5. Can I change my profile's email address?
In order to change your profile's email address you need to contact the Smartmatrimony Admin Team via the 'Contact Us' page.
6. Can I change my Display Name?
Your Display Name can be changed at anytime from your Profile Page.
7. How do I change my password?
You can change your password from your Account Page.
8. How do I manage which email notifications I receive from Smart Matrimony?
You can manage your notification settings from your Account page. .
9. How do I delete my account?
You can delete your account from your Account page.
Profile
1. How is my profile first created?
As part of the registration process we ask you to provide some information about yourself. This is then used to automatically create your basic profile.
2. How do I edit my profile?
After completing your registration your profile is created. It is important to update your profile so that others can learn more about you. Completing your profile significantly increases the chances of successful communication. You can edit your profile by selecting 'Edit' from your Profile Page.
3. What information is not allowed in my profile?
Smart Matrimony was created by Muslims for Muslims and as such we expect our users to uphold Islamic values of respect, decency and morality. Any information deemed inappropriate, offensive, or of a sexual nature is strictly prohibited. Any profiles containing such information will be rejected at the registration stage and we reserve the right to remove such profiles from the website.
4. How long will it take for my profile to be approved?
We aim to approve all profiles within 24 hours.
5. Why was my profile not approved?
We only accept high quality profiles of decent and respectable members who are seriously looking for marriage. We do not tolerate inappropriate, abusive, sexually oriented, or pornographic profile content. If your profile was not approved, it is likely for one or all of the following reasons: - Your profile information is incomplete and does not meet our minimum standards. Please complete all required fields in English. - You added contact information to your profile text such as email address or telephone number. - Your profile contains unacceptable language such as sexual, pornographic or inappropriate text or pictures. - You have uploaded unacceptable photos to your profile. - We are unable to verify the email address you provided.
Photos
1. Will adding photos improve my chances of successful communication?
Almost certainly, yes. Clear photos of you looking your best add an authenticity to the profile and allows other uses to better connect with who you are.
2. How do I upload pictures?
You can upload pictures from the 'Gallery' section of your profile.
3. What kinds of photos should I upload?
Photos need to be: - Of yourself - Clear - Decent - Contain no sexual content or references - Have no personal information showing (address, contact etc) - It should be the right way round; for example, not at a 90 degree angle - And its always nice to see you smiling!
4. How long will photos take to be approved?
We aim to approve all photos within 24 hours.
5. Can I protect any photos I upload?
We know that your photos are personal to you and that letting others view them can be a big step. All photos uploaded as part of the registration process are automatically set to private. You can choose which photos to make public from the 'Gallery' section of your profile.
6. How do I provide access to my photos to another user?
You can select 'Allow' from any user profile page.
7. How can I remove someone from viewing my private photos?
You can select 'Remove' from any user profile or you can manage your private photo access from your Account page.
8. How do I remove a photo from my profile?
You can manage all your photos from the 'Gallery' section of your Profile page.
User Search
1. How do I re run a search?
Your last set of search parameters are automatically saved in the search filters.
Matching
1. How does Smart Matrimony's personality matching process work?
Smart Matrimony's personality questionnaire has been created in cooperation with the Professor Emeritus of Psychology (PhD) at Pennsylvania State University. It is loosely based on the Five Factor Model theory of personality traits established on the psychological model developed by McCrae and Costa (1992), as well as other well-known personality theories . Your responses are collated, analysed and compared to responses of other users allowing us to develop a deeper understanding of your personality. We combine this analysis with your ideal partner criteria to provide you with matches. We believe this matching process leads to deeper levels of compatibility and more meaningful relationships.
2. How do I update my default matching parameters?
You can update your matching parameters from the 'Ideal Partner' section of your Profile page.
3. How are other members matched with me?
We take a combination of your preferences (age, height, location etc.) and your personality assessment to match you with others based on both your preferences as well as your respective personalities.
Messaging
1. How do I message another user?
Once you have found someone you would like to communicate with you can send them a message by selecting 'Send a message' from any individual's Profile Page. You can also view all your current conversations by going to the 'Messages' page. You cannot communicate with people you have blocked or those who have blocked you.
Favourites
1. How do I favourite another user?
You can favourite a user by selecting the star icon from a profile card or from a user's profile page. You can remove favourites in the same way. You can also view all your favourites by visiting the 'Your Favourites' Page.
2. Can other users see that I have favourited them?
Yes. Favouriting a user sends them a notification. It is a subtle way of expressing your interest if you can't yet pluck up the courage to send a message!
Blocking/Unblocking Users
1. How do I block/unblock another user?
You can block a user by selecting 'Block' from their Profile Page. You can unblock a user by selecting 'Unblock' from their Profile Page. You can also view all users you have blocked from the 'Account' page.
Matchmaking
1. Tell me more about matchmaking
Our matchmaking service provides you with a bespoke, individually tailored approach to finding a spouse. We combine technology with the human touch to provide you with high quality matches so that your search is as productive as it can be. Our dedicated matchmakers are experienced in bringing people together and are looking forward to helping you find the right person.
2. How does the Smart Matrimony matchmaking process work?
You will first be assigned a designated matchmaker who will work with you on an individual basis. Our matchmakers are British Muslims who inherently understand religious norms and cultural differences. Your matchmaker will work with you to understand who you are and what you are looking for. Not only will they scour the Smart Matrimony user network to help you find a suitable match but they will also broaden your search by working with their external network of matchmakers/individuals. Your matchmaker will interact with you regularly to provide recommendations as well as status updates. Our matchmakers are passionate about what they do and are confident they can help you find a spouse.
3. How do I sign up for the matchmaking process?
Once you have registered simply upgrade to a Gold Membership to benefit from our matchmaking service. Remember that as a Gold Member you will also have all the benefits of a Silver membership such as unlimited user communication.
4. How do I find out more about my matchmaker?
Once your matchmaker has been assigned your Matchmaker portal is active. You can then see your matchmaker's profile and communicate with them via Smart Matrimony's messaging portal or email/telephone.
5. How does my matchmaker provide recommendations to me?
Your matchmaker will contact you via the Smart Matrimony messaging portal.
6. How do I contact and interact with my matchmaker?
You can contact your matchmaker via the Smart Matrimony messaging portal, as you would with any other user. You can also find direct contact details for your assigned matchmaker on your matchmaker's Profile Page.
Events
1. What types of events does Smart Matrimony organise?
Our events, exclusive to members of Smart Matrimony, are designed and created with you in mind; relaxed, fun, intimate, and well organised. We are planning to host a variety of events to suit your tastes … from casual coffee get togethers, cooking classes, mocktail making sessions and much more. Should be fun!
2. How do I register for Smart Matrimony events?
You can view our upcoming events from your Home Page. You can select an event to find out more information and then select 'Register'.
3. Do I need to pay to attend Smart Matrimony events?
Some events will be free whereas for others there may be an additional fee to pay to cover for the costs of the event. It really depends on the nature of the event.
Report a System Error
1. How do I report an error?
You can report an error via the 'Contact Us' page.
Security
1. What does Smart Matrimony do to protect against fake profiles and spam?
All profiles are reviewed before they are approved by Smart Matrimony.
2. Do you check profiles?
Yes. Every single profile is checked to help ensure authenticity and decency. Any changes made to profiles, including the addition of pictures, is first reviewed by our Admin Team before being approved. Until such changes are approved they are not visible to other users.
3. I've received some spam. What should I do?
Report it. Please use the 'Contact Us' section to tell us about the spam you have received and the Smart Matrimony team will address it is a matter of priority. You can also report the user by using the 'Report' button on the profile page.
4. Will you ever ask me for my password?
Smart Matrimony will never ask you for your password. Always keep this safe.
5. Should I send personal information in my messages to other users?
Meeting someone online that you like can be very exciting! However one should also take certain precautions when interacting with others online. Take your time to get to know the person. This allows you to assess their authenticity. Be particularly vigilant if someone is asking for your personal information. If someone wants to communicate with you outside of Smart Matrimony providing an email address can be a good first step as it can validate the authenticity of the individual. It may be wise to create a separate email account used for this type of interaction. Be particularly wary of users who are impatient and demand your phone number very quickly. Most of all, never provide any kind of financial information to other users. The question to ask yourself in all your online interactions is ... if this person asked me this in real life how would I respond?
6. What should I do if people ask me for my email address/phone number?
We recommend you communicate with users via Smart Matrimony until you have gotten to know them and have developed a certain amount of trust. This way you can be sure that any inappropriate behaviour can be flagged and investigated. Always take your time in getting to know someone first and assessing their authenticity before providing any personal information. Be particularly vigilant of those who ask for such information very quickly and those who ask for any kind of financial information.
7. How do I know the person I am talking to is genuine?
Smart Matrimony reviews every profile before it is approved and only paid members can communicate with you. You can also look out for indicators such as if someone asks for your personal contact details very soon after you first start talking. If someone is 22 and claims to be a surgeon ... is that realistic? Always be wary of people asking for money ... this is a sure indicator of a scam and you should cease communication and notify Smart Matrimony immediately.
8. Another member is asking me for money. What should I do?
If another member is asking for money this is a strong indicator of a scam. Cease communication immediately and report the user using the 'Report' button on the profile page. You can also inform Smart Matrimony via the 'Contact Us' page.
Conduct
1. How do I report inappropriate content, conduct or behaviour?
Smart Matrimony reviews and approves all profiles and we have a robust process of monitoring activity for any inappropriate content or behaviour. However, we need your help to regulate the Smart Matrimony community of which you are a part. If you see or experience any such content/behavior please report it immediately using the 'Report' button on the Profile Page. You can also inform Smart Matrimony via the 'Contact Us' page.
Membership
1. How do I upgrade to a paid membership?
You can upgrade to a paid membership by selecting 'Upgrade' from your Home page.
2. How do I cancel my membership?
Your paid membership cannot be cancelled during the duration of the paid membership period. You can delete your profile during this time however the membership will continue. Your paid membership will automatically expire in line with the original duration of your paid membership. Free membership can be cancelled at any time by deleting your profile from your 'Account' page. Please refer to the Terms and Conditions for details.
3. Why is there no 1 month Gold membership?
Gold membership allows you to benefit from 1-2-1 matchmaking. You will first be assigned a matchmaker who will spend time with you to learn more about you. Your matchmaker will then search across our network to find you a suitable match. In order to provide you with the best service, and to maximise the chances of success, our team needs an adequate amount of time to work with you to find you the best possible match.
4. What membership plans do you offer?
Details of all available plans can be found on the 'Pricing' page or by selecting 'Upgrade' from your Home page.
General
1. What does Smart Matrimony mean when it says it will donate to charity?
We acknowledge that we are privileged enough to live in a part of the world where our daily needs are met. Alhamdulillah we are blessed. However there are many people who are not as fortunate. In line with our Islamic values Smart Matrimony will donate 2.5% of our net profit annually to charity. You can even help us choose which one.
2. How do I increase my chances of successful communication with other members?
There are a number of things which you can do to increase your chances: - Complete all of your profile sections, including those for your 'Ideal Partner'. - Set at least one profile picture of yourself. - Have an active paid account. - Regularly log in to your account. Good luck!
